A monthly donation of $10 per student helps keep our doors open for all students in need. The Regional Engagement Center is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

PRESS RELEASE
Regional Engagement Center Announces Changes to Summer Programming

SELINSGROVE, PA - The Regional Engagement Center (REC) today shared important news about the future of its summer programming for area youth. The REC is excited to announce that beginning June 2025, they will be expanding their signature “Free Drop-In Program” to the summer months as a year-round opportunity.
In staying true to the REC’s mission of providing kids a safe and supervised place to be regardless of their ability to pay, the Board of Directors determined that extending the REC’s signature after-school drop-in program to include the summer months would serve the needs of working families and their children during vulnerable months when school is not in session.

More than 335 students in grade 3 – 12 are currently registered with the REC’s free after school Drop-In program that provides a meal, help with homework, leadership opportunities, clubs, recreation and more. “We’re excited to provide these same opportunities to these great kids during the summer,” said Matt Santa, Program Director for the REC. “Seeing the growth in these kids and knowing they have a safe supportive place to be each day, well, it’s the reason we’re here.” The REC hopes that extending the Drop-In Program to include the summer months will create a continuity of service for the families that already rely on the REC during the school year.

“The curriculum-based summer camp program we developed and operated over the past seven years served so many needs in our community,” said Kelly Feiler, President of the REC. “Most importantly, it provided kids with a safe, enriching, educational, and supportive summer experience. To continue the program in that way without municipal tuition support, we would have to decrease the number of kids we could enroll and, at the same time, increase the cost to families, many of whom are already struggling. That just doesn’t seem right to me.” By transitioning to a year-round free Drop-In program, the REC believes that they can continue to meet those needs for summer childcare while expanding the program to serve even more families in the community.
"The future of summer programming in Selinsgrove is shining bright!” said Kelly Feiler.

The REC is a 501c3 non-profit organization. A monthly $10 donation is suggested from participants in the Drop-In Program to offset costs and help keep the doors open for everyone.
